08/08/2011 – The youth at Micah House really had a reason to celebrate Saturday.
Not only is it nearly time to go back to school, and see their friends, but children in the neighborhood around the Oxford Street Micah House all got backpacks and school supplies during their third annual block party.
Besides the backpack giveaways, the community enjoyed music, food and bounce houses at the block party.
According to Dianna Lawson, program coordinator, 670 backpacks were donated by Trinity Church members to the neighborhood children.
“Part of the reason for Micah House is it’s a place for Trinity members to do outreach,” Lawson said. “We’re bringing hope and healing, and we want to be a light in our neighborhoods.”
