A Warm Greeting
Students walk from school or get dropped off by car. They arrive to friendly staff and volunteers, and a healthy snack.
Devotion and Story Time
One of the foundations of a students experience at Micah House is an opportunity for life lessons in the areas of faith and emotional stability.
Homework Help
Students work with volunteers in small groups to complete daily homework assignments.
Literacy
Reading assessments are done at the beginning and end of each school year. Our literacy coordinator creates a targeted plan for each student. Volunteers follow that plan and listen to students read helping to increase their vocabulary and comprehension.
Arts and Recreation
Arts, crafts, and recreation round out the day.
Fun
After-school should be fun. A casual atmosphere where friendships and mentors develop as part of the Micah House family is key.
Conversation
Students engage with each other and volunteers.
